Thermage
If you are looking for a "non-surgical facelift," Thermage may be right for you. Thermage is a new non-surgical procedure that uses radio frequency energy to lift and firm the skin.Thermage, also called ThermaCool, ThermaLift and radiothermoplasty, was initially used to tighten facial skin, improve facial contours, and smooth wrinkles. It can now be used to rejuvenate other parts of the body, including stomach, knees, arms, legs and buttocks.
Thermage can temporarily improve the appearance of cellulite, re-define jawlines, lift sagging eyebrows, increase the prominence of cheekbones, improve the appearance of double chins and loose neck muscles (turkey neck), and rejuvenate hands to make them look younger. This procedure is considered a great option for patients who want something more than dermal fillers but do not want a full facelift. Thermage is currently the only procedure to have FDA clearance for non-invasive eyelid treatments. In addition, around the eyes, Thermage can treat under eye bags, hooding, rough texture on the eyelids, wrinkles and fine lines, and other contributors to tired looking eyes.
The Thermage Procedure
Thermage uses radiofrequency energy to heat the deep, collagen rich layers of the skin. Thermage aids in building and contracting collagen, which in turn reduces sagging, renews contours, and improves the smoothness and texture of the skin's surface. During the treatment, the deep layersof the skin and fat are being heated to induce collagen tightening, while the outer layer of the skin is cooled. Since the outer layer of the skin is protected with the cooling effect, there is no need for recovery, therefore, little or no downtime is required after the treatment with Theramage. Thermage is delivered in pulses and each energy pulse takes two to seven seconds. Therefore, an entire face may require 400 to 600 pulses. Thermage treatments average about 45 minutes for the face and about an hour and a half for other parts of the body. Treatment time depends on the size, location and condition of the area to be treated. And for most patients, only one treatment is required for measurable results. Thermage is the only non-invasive procedure that helps tighten and contour skin in a single treatment with almost no downtime.
Thermage Results
Although visible results can be immediate, typically they continue to appear over the course of months following the procedure. For most patients, results of Thermage, tightening and contouring, appear gradually in the two to six months following a single treatment session. This is due to the fact that Thermage stimulates body's natural healing process, which produces more collagen over time.
Results can last years, depending on individual skin condition and the process of aging. It has been reported that some patients who have used Thermage for body contouring around their love handles have lost 1.5 inches of girth around their abdomen after one treatment.
Thermage Side Effects
Although Thermage side effects are usually rare and most often temporary, they can include swelling, redness, blisters, peeling, bumps or dimpling.
Thermage Cost
Cost of Thermage treatments depend on the areas being treated. For example, the price of a face procedure may range from $1,000 to $5,000.
